the good news is, melancholy... gone. no grey's anatomy today; i think we've solved our case, watson.
and the other good news is the absence of bad news.

yes, it is close to five o'clock in the morning, and i'm sitting at my kitchen counter writing this. and dreaming of a day when it will feel all fine and well to go to bed before the latest hours of the morning. i just cannot bring myself to do such a thing when i have three days left of my freshman year. there are too many games to be played, movies to be watched, friends to be made... and i guess i should mention the studying. {that was for you, mom.} besides that, i was thinking about myself a few minutes ago, something i admittedly do all too often. {you do it too. it is easier if you just admit it.} and i remembered how much i liked fun facts.  so here we go:

i shower in the morning and at night. the just clean feeling upon hitting the sheets is possibly the best one on earth.
i swear by jergen's ultra healing lotion.
i don't feel pretty until i'm wearing earrings.
i'm an avid chapstick wash and dryer. i am certainly no stranger to unchecked pant pockets and broken chapstick.
making people feel stupid unsettles me, so i'll probably laugh at any joke you tell. unless i don't like you... that's a different story. and in that case, i'm pretty sassy. i'm working on it...
i like boys that use big words and say dumb things. paradoxical, but charming.
flattened marker tips drive me absolutely up the wall, and i refuse to use them.

so i just got tagged. by my roommate. brookie brooke. which is good. because i have been totally missing fun fact fridays. and you probably have been too. since i just know you're so interested in all things me. and even though it's a wednesday night, cowboy up and deal with it. fun fact friday: wednesday edition. here we go, kids.

1. south america intimidates me. i would be conquering a large fear by going there.
2. camper? not me. i hate being dirty and stuff...?
3. i love to learn new words.
4. biting nails... although it's a habit that i struggle with myself, when other people do it, it drives me absolutely up the wall.
5. i reeeeally hate wearing dangly earrings, a trait i get from my mother.
6. it wouldn't be hard for me to eat and entire box of chips ahoy cookies in one sitting. in fact, i have done it on several different occasions.
7. the only books i buy can be found under the following categories: classic literature, art history, and travel.
8. when i was six years old, i bit open a glow stick and all of the glow juice came flooding into my mouth. then, my oldest and wisest brother michael tried to shove italian salad dressing down my throat to ease the pain. really?
9. sometimes i'm convinced that i'm having pregnancy cravings and morning sickness. but then i remember that that's impossible...
10. i loathe the movie charly.
11. i'm under the impression that leo decap was only attractive in one movie. that movie was titanic. and attractive is an understatement.
12. i cannot fall asleep without complete darkness. and sometimes that involves forcing a towel into the cracks of my bedroom door.
13. google translator is quickly becoming my funniest companion. {for some reason, i think it's hilarious to make those boys decode sentences that don't make sense.}
14. i buy new face wash about every three weeks. i think it's a sickness.
15. aaand a couple of times a day i have a lethargic missing moment where all i want is to be back in high school {with the friends that are long gone now}, staying out past the curfew that no longer exists, and failing math. i miss that lots and lots.

*ohh! bonus fact! i have a new niece! little taytum heather just couldn't be cuter... can't wait to meet her in two weeks! :)

facts that are just as fun as they would be on a friday.

so it's 12 a.m. on saturday morning. aka. it's not friday anymore. but it's alright. because i can do whatever i want.

and what i want is some fun facts.
...good thing we can all pretend it's friday.

1. grapes. glorious grapes.
thank goodness for them. in all forms, they are life enriching.

exhibit:
a: grapes. the fruit. obviously. plump, succulent, circular, and mouth watering. need i go further?
b: hello. grape laffy taffy. no contest between any of the other flavors. when it comes to tangy and sweet, grape laffy taffy just can't be beat. {see what i did there? ;)} grape takes the cake. just like that last phrase was an internal rhyme. i mean, whatever.
c: people say all the time how wine does wonders for your heart. i'll never experience those wonders because of a little thing i like to call the WOW factor, which is in this rare case, better... much better than any wine a grape can make. but that's my choice to make. join me, or think that it's just another reason grapes are great. another internal rhyme. just sayin.
d: grape jelly. when it comes to the best preserves in these here parts, grape jam has my heart.
please excuse the rhyming. apparently i'm a poet today. and not a very good one, mind you. never sacrifice a word for the rhyme!
e: you can freeze them.
my lanta. this has been my addiction lately. frozen grapes. hollar.

6. watching the travel channel all day every day will one day turn me into a vegetable.
i can't count the number of useless programs i watch. today, i watched the history of cheese. from south america to switzerland. a few weeks ago, the world's largest swimming pool was featured. i know just about everything there is to know about it. it's in chile. and it's 1,000 yards long. oh you know, just useless info that my brain would rather store than the quadratic equation. whatever. sam brown? my idol. anthony bourdain? love him. andrew zimmern? bizarre, but who can blame a guy whose character is based solely on the title of his hit tv show?

7. i can't pick just one favorite time in history. i'd have to say... from the french revolution to the mid 1800's. in my language, that's from neoclassics, to the impressionists. you know. jaques louis david, to claude monet? i'm not impressing anyone here...

8. never will i get tired of national treasure. that movie is crazy, and terribly historically incorrect, but it's entertaining. and i love it. so lay off.

I know, I know. You missed Fun Fact Friday. Or didn't you? Last time that I posted an edition of this lovely tradition, it was all about the glorious world of art. Art, art, art. It's my life, what can I say? But! Have no fear. Tonight is different. Fun Fact Friday has spunk tonight. Because hello. It's Fun Fact Friday. Hence. The "Fun".

1. I'm not a card game player.
Call me lame. Call me distracted. A.D.D. Whatever. I don't play card games well. Trust me. You don't wanna play.
2. I'm not attracted to Zach Effron.
Don't hate me.
Please.
3. Though there's been controversy on the matter, yes. I am allergic to Avocados. Please don't try to sneak pieces of them into my sushi, or give me a facial scrub made up of only the mashed green substance. I will break out on my neck with small splotches of red. And they itch. I promise. I'm allergic.
4. If you're not going to do anything productive in Europe, please don't come back until you have. No one wants to hear about your stories of how you got wasted in Rome and spent the rest of your nights in your hotel room. Just stay there with the Italians. We're better off without you if you can go to a city full of rich culture and not understand the concept of an aqueduct.
5. I have a love for the song Ave Maria.
6. I am fascinated by road kill. It's a little weird, and a little Morticia Adams of me, but I cannot tell a lie. If I see it peripheral, I'll double take 98% of the time. That's something that you can count on.
7. I boycotted Brangelina.

8. There's nothing worse than the sound of ripping newspaper. The very thought of it makes me cringe.
9. If I could meet one celebrity, it would have to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt. What can I say? We've had a thing for a few years... In Angels in the Outfield, we began a friendly relationship. It evolved once we both grew up into teenagers. In 10 Things I Hate About You, I drooled over his sensitivity and bilingual skills. One year ago, I realized that I was in love. In 500 Days of Summer, his heart broke, and mine broke for him. I just haven't ever been able to get up the courage to tell him how I feel. Maybe one day...
10. I would rather ski than swim. Give me boots and a scarf over flip-flops and a suntan. Hot Cocoa before an Otter Pop, and Christmas rather than Independence Day. See where I'm going with this? Winter and I, we're best friends. Because I'm a Snowfall kind of girl.

Fun Fact Friday.

Well, it's Friday. And I'm still not asleep. Because I refuse to be asleep at a reasonable hour on a Friday night. Even if my eyes plead to shut down for the night. I'm still going strong. And blogging. Because I do that now apparently. So. It's Friday night. And oh is it fun! Why do we all love Fridays so much? Is it because we realize that life can slow down for a minute and a half? Do we only like them because if we reveal that if we don't really care about them, we take the risk of not being socially accepted? ...Okay. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and rule out the second. Probably not that. Maybe we like Fridays so much because it's one thing to look forward to in a monotonous life that we keep trudging through without any incentive. Maybe Friday is our incentive to get through six other days. Or maybe it's because Fridays mean my new tradition. Fun Fact Friday.

1. Boy do i hate rain on my windshield.

If people understood the hatred I possess for this stupid, traditionally beautiful thing, they would turn on their wipers a whole lot faster in the middle of a rain storm. Mom was driving today, and I kept reaching over and flipping on the wipers. She didn't like that too much.

2. I am the Vermeer.


To the general public, it just does not make sense. Who is Vermeer? And to that I say, Culture up buddy. Vermeer is one of my favorite painters ever. He paints interior scenes and portraits. He painted this portrait, Girl with the Pearl Earring, of what is thought to be his servant girl. Now. I love Vermeer for many reasons. His detail is phenomenal, and his people are so realistic, but I think what I love most about him, is that he loves to use pearls. Which are my favorite items of jewelery. I wear pearls. I wear nothing BUT pearls in fact. This makes me the Vermeer.

3. Jane Austen and a green landscape for two, please.
Old books? Love them. Old movies? Love them. Anything that brings me back to the time of Jane Austen, I'm in. You could bet. And win.
